Mathematics Tutors - Job Description

 

We are seeking the immediate hire of additional Tutors to operate from our locations in Cranberry Township & Wexford, PA. Candidates must be capable and willing to assist students at Elementary, Middle and High school levels.

The most important responsibility of our Tutors is to assist the Educational Coordinator to maintain a productive learning environment through interactions with students that explains, demonstrates and illustrates Math topics using various teaching techniques.

  • They are provided with training and they are supported while learning to implement classroom procedures unique to MathZone

  • They are valued team players who collaborate with the Education Coordinator and are informed of a student’s individual learning challenges and goals before they commence tutorials with the student

  • They are provided with regular and detailed tutorial data regarding a student’s mathematics curriculum coverage, strengths and weaknesses across learning objectives and overall progress that facilitates informed teaching decisions

  • They are encouraged to deliver their own personal teaching style and experiences when presenting various topics with the aim of successfully maximizing each student’s learning potential

  • They enjoy varied teaching opportunities such as individual and small group tutoring and varied teaching activities across MathZone curricula, school textbooks and test preparation

All teaching activities and responsibilities are delivered in our center - you bring your enthusiasm, knowledge and skill – there is no work for you to take home and grade.

Duties

  • Conduct tutorials for students based on the individualized learning plan developed by MathZone

  • Oversee student exercises and activities to facilitate student's academic improvement

  • Review all records required to document student's attendance and academic progress

  • Other duties as required

Engagement Criteria

  • Highly prefer a long term commitment

  • Candidates must have either a completed Bachelor's degree or be in their Junior or Senior year of college with a minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Relevant degree backgrounds:

    • Math

    • Information Technology

    • Engineering

    • Business

    • Economics

    • Chemistry

    • Physics

    • Science

  • Tutors engaged by MathZone will be required to successfully complete subject specific exam type questions that demonstrate the candidate's grasp of subject matter to be taught

  • All applicants must pass drug & background checks prior to being engaged by MathZone

  • Engagement as a Tutor at MathZone will be on the basis of "Independent Contractor"

  • Tutors engaged by MathZone will be required to complete a W9 form (click here to fill online)

Compensation

MathZone values the skills & experience of its employees and contractors. Our intent is to foster long term relationships with our employees and contractors that reflect our company values, capabilities and brand to the community at large. If you are engaged to work at MathZone, you can expect to be compensated with above market rates and you will enjoy rate increases based on your performance, availability and length of service. Individual rates will vary. Hourly rates start at $12 per hour. Rate increases are subject to experience and availability & performance.
